Tips For Recycling At Home

The amount of waste is increasing every day and this waste has a negative impact on our planet and our life quality; the need to recycle has never been greater. By following these simple tips at home we can reduce this waste, reduce planet pollution, save trees and conserve water and natural resources and contribute to creating a greener world.

/ When doing laundry instead of using your dryer just hand out your clothes to save energy, money and get clothes that smell fresh;

/ Fill your dishwasher every time you use it and turn on the kitchen hot water faucet for a few seconds prior to starting dishwasher;

/ Donate your unwanted magazines, books, clothes, toys, small appliances or any other household item– there is always someone who needs them;

/ Be part of the recycling program – purchase only items made from recycled materials or natural sources – this will have a huge impact on our landfills and our planet;

/ Learn to compost your fruit and vegetables scraps to obtain a natural fertilizer for your garden;

/ Save ink and paper when printing on both sides of your paper or even better save all the info on your computer whenever possible;

/ Recycle all your paper, cans, plastic or glass bottles;

/ Bring your own bag or basket when shopping for grocery; refuse any unwanted bags or packaging to reduce waste;

/ When shopping for new appliances look for the energy efficient information;

/ Unplug your small appliances or electronics when not in use;

/ Be creative when buying gifts – expensive is not always better; create your own cards, save gift bags and reuse them, create your own floral arrangements or use recycled paper gift wrap;

/ Refrain from buying more then you need and this way can reduce the waste;

/ Use rechargeable batteries, refill printer cartridges, buy low energy bulbs, and recycle mobile phones.
