Spring is the time to start fresh, to update your home decor and your wardrobe.
Questions to ask yourself before starting the work:
Do I really need this item? Do I use it? Do I love it?
If you answer YES to any of the above then keep it! But if you are hesitating then maybe is the time to pass it on.
When start decluttering use these smart tips to make the job easier:
1/ Start the job when you have at least 30 minutes available - is a time consuming work;
2/ One room at the time to avoid chaos;
3/ Sort your stuff into 3 categories: keep it; donate it and toss it;
4/ Use baskets to organize small items: controllers, cords, mail, keys, gloves, sunglasses, aso.
5/ Use vacuum bags for storing your winter clothes, heavy bedding items, sleeping bags or pillows;
6/ While in the declutter process avoid any entertaining shopping;
7/ Donate your old books, children books and magazines to friends, family or the library; you can do the same with about anything else in your house and this will make you feel good knowing that you are recycling.
8/ Establish a replacement policy: for every new item that comes in, an old one has to go. And since you are getting new stuff go for the green ones -makes more sense!
